Upcoming Events

The Year 2 students at Dixons Music Primary will be taking part in their first production: The Lion King on Wednesday 25 March 2015.

Parents will be contacted during early February with details of the show and how to request tickets for the show.

On Friday 12 June Learn to Rock will be presenting their annual interactive demonstration of Instruments and Vocals at Burley Oaks Primary School in Ilkley.

The objective of the demonstration is to show pupils what can be learnt with Learn to Rock and how we learn.

Staff and students (Year 2 to Post 16) at Learn to Rock will participate in the demonstration so that pupils at Burley Oaks can see exactly what can be achieved.

The instruments that will be demonstrated will include:  Vocals, Keyboard, Piano, Electric, Bass and Classical Guitars, Drums and Vocals.

Pupils will then have the opportunity to sign up for lessons at Burley Oaks for September.

Follow up letters and application forms will be sent home with pupils at the end of the day.

Each term we track selected students as they learn with their tutors each week. The students work can be seen on video with information about what and how they are learning.

The pupils in Reception to Year 5 at Burley Oaks Primary School will participate in a Musical Theatre taster morning.

Pupils will experience Dance, Drama and Singing and work on a mini project in the taster.

Parents will then have the opportunity to sign children up to begin on the Learn to Rock Musical Theatre programme at Burley Oaks on Wednesdays after School at Burley Oaks Primary School (3.20pm to 5.00pm) from September.

Follow up letters and application forms to sign children up for the Autumn term programme will be sent out to parents on the afternoon of the Musical Taster morning:  Tuesday 16 June.

On Saturday 27 June we will stage our annual Ilkley central Summer Showcase Concert.

There will be dress rehearsals during the afternoon, details to follow, and the concert will start at 4.30pm.

The pupils on the Burley Oaks Musical Theatre programme will stage their production of excerpts from the Musical ‘Annie’ on Wednesday 15 July at Burley Oaks Primary School:  5.30pm to 6.30pm.

Each pupil will have 4 free tickets.

The schedule for the evening will be as follows:

3.20pm-5.00pm:  Usual After School Event:  Dress Rehearsal

5.00pm to 5.30pm: Preparation

5.30pm to 6.30pm:  Performance

Children will bring letters home on Wednesday 22 April.

The letters will contain all the details for costumes and itinerary for the evening.

General Cast: To bring ‘scruffy’ type clothes for their role as orphans All the children with the role of a specific character  know what characters they are and we would be grateful if they could wear costumes as follows:

• The two Annie’s to bring ‘scruffy’ clothes and one smart red dress
• Miss Hanigan to bring a ‘grown up’ type dress
• Grace to bring pretty ‘grown up’ type dress
• Mr Warbucks to bring smart trousers and a shirt

CHARACTERS FOR THE SHOW

Some parts have been doubled up.

Therefore some children maybe a Mermaid and a Pirates.

COSTUMES

Peter Pan- Anything Green

Wendy, John and Michael – PJ’s and dressing gowns

Tinkerbelle- Anything Green with fairy wings or a fairy costume

Captain Hook- Browns and blacks with pirate hat

Smee- Blue stripy t-shirt or white shirt with brown trousers

Mr Darling- Black trousers and smart shirt

Mrs Darling- Pretty Dress

Tiger Lily/ Chief Bamboo- Brown outfits if possible Indian head dress

Fairies- Pretty colourful dresses with fairy wings

Mermaids- Flowing colourful dresses

Lost Boys- Anything greens, browns and scruffy

Pirates- Scarves, bandannas and black trousers with red, blue or white t-shirts

NO TRAINERS ON PERFORMANCE NIGHT BLACK PUMPS OR DANCE SHOES PLEASE
