Here we see Jack in Year 9 and Dan one of our drum tutors preparing their duet for our forthcoming demonstration at Burley Oaks Primary School on Friday 12 June. This is their second session on the piece with some interesting sampled sounds.

Arul Grooving Using HiHat and a Ride Cymbals and a Variety of Fills

Arul had a great lesson today experimenting with changing grooves between the Hi Hat and Ride cymbal and inserting various different semi quaver fills.

Beni in Year 7 Further Work in Latin Grooves and Fills

As we track Beni in year 7 this example shows him working this week on developing his Latin drumming. The latest developments here show Beni combining semi quaver triplet fills, triplet fills and semi quaver fills. We also see him playing great Samba style beats whilst a contrasting Bossa Nova style beat is bring played.

Foxhill Primary Year 3 Drummers Creat Latin Composition

The year 3 drummers at Foxhill Primary School began to create a great Latin style drum piece last week. Have a listen to the intricate rhythms and the great effect of the Cowbells.

Beni working on the Samba Drum Piece

Today Beni achieved some great work on his Samba piece. We were working on a tight introduction followed by two variants of the Samba groove. In terms of fills listen to his semi quaver triplets combined with regular semi quavers.

Reece starts work on his first Drum Exam

Yesterday Reece, in Year 3, began work on his first Rock School drum exam. He learnt a full piece in one lesson and by the end of the lesson was able to play the piece with the backing track!

Beni Working on Samba Styles

As part of his warm up routines this term Beni and I are working on Samba styles. This will form part of a massive Drum kit ensemble piece for the summer concert at Dixons Music Primary where we will feature 7 students in Drum kit playing a Samba backing with the younger students from DMP adding some Samba rhythms.
