Reece starts work on his first Drum Exam

Yesterday Reece, in Year 3, began work on his first Rock School drum exam. He learnt a full piece in one lesson and by the end of the lesson was able to play the piece with the backing track!

As part of his warm up routines this term Beni and I are working on Samba styles. This will form part of a massive Drum kit ensemble piece for the summer concert at Dixons Music Primary where we will feature 7 students in Drum kit playing a Samba backing with the younger students from DMP adding some Samba rhythms.

As we are tracking Reece in Year 3 and Jack in Year 9 in their work together have a look at the video attached. Here the guys are taking a simple 16ths riffs and using a combination of double and syncopated Bass Drum patterns to create interest.
